"Community Initiatives" describes what I focus on, as part of a team of experts and experimenters trying to do something constructive.  The Community Initiatives in which I'm involved include established institutions - city government, academic institutions and civic associations - and open-format organizations - networks of concerned citizens, learning groups and new community initiatives.

The objective is to help provide focus and to connect community assets with resources to achieve results - engaging retirees meaningfully in communities; understanding global opportunities for local development; creating higher educational opportunities for minorities - conducted on a local level with the potential to be replicated.

My perspective brings together experience in business with my interests as a community catalyst. I believe that good ideas gain momentum and are sustainable when they grow organically.

So I encourage networks and associations to come together as colleagues and identify themselves as a  "community" around common interests and experiences, before establishing objectives and launching initiatives.

Having traveled widely as corporate executive, international salesman and now community advocate, the resources I bring to these ventures include a network of business people, social engineers, government and NGO officials, scholars and educators.

My role in specific initiatives evolves depending on the circumstances - catalyst, group leader, participant, funder, webmaster, organizer or communicator.  Frequently I act as the sponsor, a new ideas person, or the glue!
